EDWARD S. GRIFFIN, JR.
Graveside Services for Mr. Edward S. Griffin, Jr., 85, were held on Sunday, March 3, 2013, at 3:00 p.m. at Salem Cemetery near Freestone. Bro. Darrell Beggs officiated.
Mr. Griffin passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2013, at his residence in Teague. He was born and raised in Louisiana and served in the U.S. Navy on a Destroyer, the U.S.S. Gregory DD802, during World War II. After his naval service, he attended carpentry school on the G.I. Bill and became a very skilled carpenter. He lived in California and worked on numerous projects in several states before moving to Teague in 1969. He continued his carpenter trade in Teague and worked on such projects as Big Brown in Fairfield, the Limestone Generating Station south of Donie, Fairfield High School, and numerous other buildings before retiring. Mr. Griffin loved sports and was an avid Texas Rangers Fan and Teague Lions Fan. He was a hard worker, and he loved his family and his pets. Mr. Griffin was a Baptist by Faith.
He is survived by one daughter, Dianne Miller & husband Kenny of El Cajon, CA; two sons, Charlie Griffin & wife Shirley of Lakeside, CA, and Mike Griffin & wife Gail of Teague; six grandchildren, Aimee Miller of El Cajon, CA, Daniel Griffin of Lakeside, CA, Stacie Aclin & husband Ken of Teague, Jeremy Griffin of Lakeside, CA, Stephanie Teer & husband Bryan of Teague, and Jessica Griffin of Austin; seven great-grandchildren, Mark Senasky, Anastasia Senasky, Griffin Prince, Kiley Griffin, Jaiden Aclin, Maggie Teer, and Emily Senasky; two sisters, Ruth Terry of Ravana, AR, and Bess Cockerham of Kalmath Falls, Oregon; one brother, Robert Griffin & wife Lenora of Allagan, MI; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mr. Griffin was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie Jean Griffin; infant son; parents, Edward Schumpert Griffin Sr. and Bertha Hicks Griffin; one sister, Lenora Griffin; and four brothers, Bendle Griffin, Dennis Griffin, John Griffin, and Gordon Griffin.
The family requests memorials be made to the Teague Volunteer Fire Department, 400 Cedar Street, Teague, TX 75860.

BILLY D. TAYLOR
Billy D. Taylor, 86, of Angleton passed away on February 28, 2013 at Angleton Danbury Medical Center in Angleton. He was born to Bruce Doyle and Nancy Taylor in Teague, Texas on December 22, 1926.
Bill enlisted in the Navy in November 1944 during WWII. He was honorably discharged in July 1946. it was during this tenure he learned his trade as an electrician. Upon returning home from the war he began working for a motor co. where he met the love of his life Nan Tate. They married in January 1949, and moved to Angleton where he began his career as an electrician for a locally owned company and eventually went to work for community Public Service Light Company before it became Texas-New Mexico Power Co. After 16 years there he and his wife ventured to buy Sharpe?s Hardware in July 1967. In 1974 they purchased property on Highway 35 and moved the hardware business to this location and change the name to Taylor?s Ace Hardware. The hardware business was a family business which included his daughter and two son and many good employees. It also housed a garden center and tool rental department. During this time they were blessed with many wonderful customers and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 51 years, Nan, brother, Bobby Taylor, and son Kevin S. Taylor
Survivors in daughter Trecia Taylor Byrd, Son-in-law Arnold Byrd, son Rick Taylor and sister Dixie Williamson. Grandchildren, Tamra Byrd Whitehead (Chris), Jason Byrd, Rickey Taylor, Kristopher Taylor, Dalton Taylor, Shayna Taylor and Andrew Taylor. Great-grandchildren, Brianna Farrer, Cheyenne Whitehead, Ethan Byrd, Kristopher Taylor, Jr. and Brycen Sanders and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held at Fairfield Cemetery in Fairfield , Texas on March 3, 2013 at 11:00 a.m.
