Funeral services for Mrs. Bobbe Glazener, 84, were held on Saturday, February 16, 2013, at 2:00p.m. at Bowers Funeral Home. Rev. Phil Chamberlin of Grace Methodist Church in Palestine officiated. Interment followed the services at Dew Cemetery.

Mrs. Glazener passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2013, in Palestine. She was born and raised in Nacogdoches County where she met and married W. C. (Bill) Glazener in 1946. They moved to Freestone County that year and started to farm and ranch in Dew. She gardened, canned, sewed, and helped with the animals and crops. Bobbe and Bill were a great team in ribbon roping and calf roping in rodeos in the area. She was a hard worker, and after Bill had polio in 1952, a lot of hard work fell to her and she took it with typical vigor and determination.

At Christmastime, Bobbe sewed doll clothes for the new dolls Santa brought and made pajamas and gowns for her three daughters, as well as matching dresses for them. Her berry jelly, chicken fried steak, and biscuits and gravy were legendary, as were her custard pies and brownies. She somehow found the time to do all this while working ?in town? most of these years full time as a bookkeeper. She cared for and fed hogs, sheep, goats, cows, horses, and her guineas, chickens, and peacocks. She loved every minute she spent tending to her animals. For many years, Bill and Bob did income tax returns and bookkeeping for their friends and neighbors in Freestone County. After Bill passed away, Bob enjoyed her dog, chickens, and cattle living on the same home place in Dew that she and Bill had moved to as newlyweds.

She is survived by three daughters, Karen Boyd & husband Steve of Palestine, Kit Devine of Spring, and Kathy Copeland & husband Frank of Palestine; five grandchildren, Russell Boyd & wife Kathy of Pflugerville, Will Boyd & wife Lindsey of Georgetown, Kimberly Devine of Palestine, Mandy Goodwyn & husband Ben of Tomball, and Adam Copeland & wife Jenny of Crowley; five great-grandchildren, Compton Boyd, Peyton Devine, McKayla Devine, Justin Goodwyn, and Nathan Goodwyn; longtime family friends, the McAdams Family; other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Glazener was preceded in death by her husband, W. C. (Bill) Glazener; one brother, Cecil Parrish; and two sisters, Maurine Little and Floride Kelton.

The family requests memorials be made to the Dew Cemetery Association, 139 CR 683, Teague, Texas 75860.
