Junior High Lady Lions Defeat Marlin Lady Dogs
Action from the Lion Gym kicked off with the 7th grade Lady Lion B Team defeating the Marlin Lady Dogs 10-6. This game was back and forth and this was the lowest point total for the Lion?s on the season.
?We didn't shoot well but we made up for it hustling all four quarters,? said Coach Chris Nickleberry." Leading the way in scoring was Kaitlin Villa with six, Brianna Lair and Kristin Wright had two points each.
The 7th grade A team followed just dominating the Lady Dogs 66 -3. "The girls took this game personal, the last time we played Marlin we had some girls out sick and Marlin gave us a scare," said Nickleberry. The Lady Lions dominated defensively from start to finish. On the offensive end the Lady Lions spaced and ran the floor well and were able to score a ton of points in the paint. The team has been winning by big margins but they are playing as a team, spacing the floor well, and playing tremendous defense.
?I'm a defensvie guy and we forced 36 turnovers which is 6 over our average per game. That's how we set the tone with DEFENSE, added Nickleberry. ?The gym was packed and our fan support has been tremendous all year.?
Leading the way for the Lady Lions were KaDaja Nickleberry with 16 points, Ashley Nickleberry 15 points, Zytaria Herod 13 points, Madison Steen 9 points, Cady Drake 5 points, Kennedy Bennett 4 point, Caelyn Thompson and Ashlyn Anzelmo scored 2 points each. Due to Marlin not having a team our 8th graders played againt the High School Freshman team defeating them 37 - 6. Leading the way was Kallie Brown with 11 points, Bailey Day 10 points, Ashley Coleman 8 points, and Shanleigh Curry 6 points. The girls rebounded well and played tremendous defense.
