Teague Wins Sweepstakes At Fairfield Meet


The Teague High School UIL won the Fairfield Invitational Meet Sweepstakes on Saturday, February 2nd while competing against 12 schools. Forty-five students attended the meet and took home the Championship Trophy. They won the following individual and team medals.

Winning Championship Speech team at the meet, Mrs. Smith?s speakers dominated in Persuasive Speaking: Andrew Roman (1st) , Kyle Kayworth (3rd) and Tristan Revels (5th); in Informative Speaking, Alie Watson (1st) and Paola Garcia (2nd); in Poetry, Sarah Dawson (1st), Kyle Hayworth (7th); in Prose Brittnee Ransberger (3rd).

Social Studies won 2nd place team with Andrew Collins (2nd) and Josh Evans (4th) winning individually. Current Events took 2nd place team as well with Andrew Collins (2nd), Keil Meredith (3rd) and Karim Hussain (6th).

In Computer Applications, Marquitta Dyer won 3rd place. In Computer Science, Brian Bottoms placed 4th.

In Headline Writing, Rafael Acevedo placed 4th; in Ready Writing, Emily Walker took 2nd while Caitlyn Collins placed 6th ; Spelling and Vocabulary won 2nd place team with Andrew Collins and Karim Hussain winning 5th and 6th respectively. Teague won Championship Team in Literary Criticism with Troy Trinidad winning 4th and Paola Garcia and Ashley Morris scoring well.

The Accounting team won 2nd place with Lydia Torres (3rd) and Kassandra Stafford (5th) winning individually. Morgan Sims won 6th place in Number Sense.

This was a big win for the Teague High School Academics Team. Congratulations to all the winners! District will take place in Buffalo on March 19th and 23rd.
