Erin Hennsley, Freestone Co. Extension Agent
Freestone County has a new A&M AgriLife Extension Agent. Her name is Erin Hensley and she comes from Gillett, Wyoming. ?I am really excited to be here and I?m ready to get stuff done,? said Hensley.
Erin grew up on her family farm in Gillett and was active in 4-H and FFA. She has been involved in all aspects of showing livestock, judging, plant ID, Entomology, and water and soil conservation.
Erin attended Oklahoma Panhandle State University, in Goodwell, Oklahoma, where she earned dual degrees, a Bachelors of Animal Science degree and a Bachelors of Agri-Business degree, in three years. While at OPSU she was President of Collegiate FFA and Alpha Zeta, Senior Class Secretary, a member of Alpha Chi, Student Senate and the 2007 OPSU Livestock Judging Team. ?I pulled away from Ag studies for awhile and completed one year at Oklahoma City University School of Law, but my heart was in agriculture,? said Erin.
She went to Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma, and earned her Masters of Agriculture International Studies in the fall of 2011. At 25 Erin has also had lots of volunteer experience and professional experience in the agricultural field.
She started as Freestone County A&M University AgriLife Agent, following 30 days training, on December 12, 2012 and already has a very full schedule planned. Through the months of March, April, and May Erin has Webinar programs, contests demonstrations clinics, horse shows and management programs planned just to mention a few.
