Lady Lions JV 8-0 In District
Keeping pace with their varsity counterparts, the Teague Lady Lions Junior Varsity recently ran their District 23-2A slate to 8-0 with a 45-28 win on the road at Buffalo followed by a 42-12 home win over Rice.
In the win at Buffalo on Tuesday, January 15, the first three quarters were relatively evenly matched between the two squads as Teague held a 14-6 lead after the opening quarter before taking a 22-14 advantage at the half.
The third quarter saw the Lady Lions score 15 points to Buffalo?s 10 to give Teague a 37-24 lead going into the final period. The Lady Lions then outscored their hosts 8-4 in the fourth stanza to pull away to the 45-28 victory.
Teague had three players in double figures led by Hannah Matchett?s 15 points while Jasmine McQuirter added 13 and Hope Scales had 12 points. Others scoring for the Lady Lions were Shelby Lafoy (4 points) and Stine Rype (1).
Other members of the Teague Junior Varsity coached by Melissa Padgett and Christina Blake are Harlie Hill, Kirsten Marriott, Malea Anderson, Katlin Keaton, Kari Snelding, Kiana Adams Olivia Guerrero and Kayla Wagoner.
Teague returned to action at home on Friday, January 18 where they faced the Rice Lady Bulldogs for the second time this season. The Lady Lions led 13-2 after one quarter and 22-4 at the break before outscoring Rice 20-8 over the second half to secure the 42-12 win.
McQuirter and Scales each scored 11 points to pace the Teague attack while Lafoy chipped in nine followed by Matchett (5 points), Rype (4) and Keaton (2).
Hill, Marriott, Anderson, Snelding, Adams, Guerrero and Wagoner also all contributed to the Lady Lions? latest victory.
On Tuesday, January 22, Teague was scheduled to travel to Blooming Grove before returning home on Friday, January 25 where they will face Mildred.
