Lady Lions JV Wins Again in District
The Teague Lady Lions Junior Varsity improved to 6-0 in District 23-2A play with its latest win coming in a 32-14 triumph at Riesel on Tuesday, January 8. Teague also picked up a win by forfeit the previous Friday as Marlin had to forfeit the regularly scheduled game due to not having enough players for a junior varsity squad.
At Riesel, Teague jumped ahead 10-2 after one quarter before increasing the advantage to 19-6 at half time. The pace slowed a bit in the third period with the Lady Lions holding a 23-10 lead going into the fourth quarter. Teague then outscored their hosts 9-4 in the final stanza to post their 13th win of the season and finish the first half of loop play undefeated at 6-0.
Hope Scales led Teague with 14 points while Hannah Matchett added eight with Jasmine McQuirter chipping in six more and Kayla Wagoner and Stine Rype each scored two points apiece.
Also contributing to the win for Teague Coaches Melissa Padgett and Christina Blake were Harlie Hill, Shelby Lafoy, Kirsten Marriot, Malea Anderson, Katlin Keaton, Kari Snelding, Kianna Adams and Olivia Guerrero.
After having the district?s bye date last Friday, January 11, Teague was slated to resume action at Buffalo on Tuesday, January 15 before hosting Rice on Friday, January 18.
