Funeral services for Mrs. Chotcie Sheppard, 82, were held on Saturday, January 5, 2013, at 3:00p.m. at First Methodist Church in Teague. Rev. Alan Van Hooser officiated. Interment followed the services at Greenwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Sheppard passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2013, at her residence in Teague.

Chotcie ?Mimi? Sheppard was born on February 22, 1930, to J.C. & Mig Lambert in Teague. Chotcie attended school in Dew and graduated from Teague High School with the Class of 1947. She married David Sheppard in 1948 and had two daughters, Susan Beaver and Shari Dickens. She was of the generation of women that got to stay home and care for their families. Her hobbies included bridge, tennis, and hard work. Mrs. Sheppard made every stitch of clothing her girls wore. She was an amazingly strong woman and wore the scars of rheumatoid arthritis like a crown of jewels. Mrs. Sheppard could do more with her crippled hands than any able bodied person. She amazed doctors with her ability to function and recover from her many maladies. Her medical problems could have filled several medical journals. She has been the subject of many school and college essays and research papers. Chotcie never met a stranger and knew everyone?s birthday in the Tri-County area. Her family was her pride and joy. She was the matriarch in the true sense of the word. Mrs. Sheppard helped raise her five grandkids and taught them all how to drive. She was a great Mimi to them all! Her great-grandchildren were her favorite topic of conversation and the source of every Christmas card for the past several years. She was anxiously awaiting the birth of great-grand #11. We know she is already caring for Baby Girl Paul in heaven until her mom and dad get to see her. Mrs. Sheppard was an active member of First United Methodist Church for many years. She loved her church. It was one of the high points of the week and she loved her church members as family.

She is survived by two daughters, Susan Beaver & husband Paul and Shari Dickens, all of Teague; five grandchildren, Leslie Sims & husband Shannon, Kayla Craig & husband Todd, David Beaver & wife Emily, Jana Paul & husband Taylor, and Leah Akeman & husband Aaron; eleven great-grandchildren, Morgan Sims, Mallorie Sims, Lilah Craig, Caroline Craig, Mollie Sims, Lily Beaver, Reese Beaver, Kane Akeman, Kinley Akeman, Sophie Craig, and Baby Girl Paul; one brother, Jim Lambert & wife Sandy of Carbondale, Illinois; two nephews; four nieces; special friend & caregiver, Carolyn Mims; other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Sheppard was preceded in death by her husband, Sonny Sheppard; parents, J. C. & Mig Lambert; one sister, Anne Stringer; and one great-granddaughter, Brittnee Sims.

The family requests that memorials be made to First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 240, Teague, Texas 75860.?
