Lady Lions come up short in play-off game against Rogers
The Teague Lady Lions took on the Rogers Lady Eagles last Thursday evening in the Area Championship Volleyball match held at Franklin High School. The Lady Lions matched up very well athletically and talent wise with the Lady Eagles, but playoff inexperience seemed to make the difference.
The Lady Lions were shell shocked in the first set and fell 13-25. In the second set the Lions finally settled down mid way through, but it was too late as Rogers took the 2nd set 22-25. The Lady Lions were up for a fight though and never quit. They jumped out to a 13-9 lead and seemed to have the momentum, but a few kills from Rogers combined with unforced errors from the Lady Lions put Rogers back in the game. There were several long rallies and points exchanged. NiCosha Nelms went back to serve at 18-24 and the Lady Lions fought back, but too little too late and dropped the match 23-25.
?We had a long season and a successful one at that, saide Lady6 Lion volleyballHead Coach Melissa Padgett. ?I am proud of these girls and the support we received from the community. It has been a long time since Teague won a District Championship in volleyball. We look to win many more in the future as well as playoff games. A personal thank you goes out from this team to the churches, families, and businesses for feeding the girls before matches and showing their support throughout the season. I can?t imagine a better place to spend my first season as head coach. Thank you ALL FOR BEING ALL IN!?
