8th grade Lions defeat Groesbeck goats, 24-6

The Teague 8th grade football team traveled to Groesbeck to play the Groesbeck Goats on Thursday, September 20th and came home with another win.

The young Lions took the field in the 1st quarter and on the opening kickoff Jaylon Davis ran 75-yards for the first touchdown of the game. The PAT was not good and the quarter ended with a score of 6-0.

It was Mylan Shed that scored on a 60-yard touchdown run in the 2nd quarter of the game. Once again the PAT was not good and the 2nd and 3rd quarters ended with the Lions ahead 12-6.

In the 4th quarter Caleb Rodgers made a 9-yard touchdown run and again the PAT was not good bringing the score to 18-6.

Demarcus Jones intercepted a Groesbeck pass on the Teague 48-yard line and Anthony Weathers scored with a 15-yard touchdown run. The PAT was not good and the score was 24-6.

B.J. McQuirter intercepted a Groesbeck pass on the Teague 30-yard line to secure the win and make 24-6 the final score.

?Great game for the 8th grade. Started out a little slow but finished the game with a great 4th quarter,? said Coach Derrek Tyler.

The next game will be against Waco Reicher on October 4, 2012, at Waco Reicher. Come and support our young Lions.
